When we put together Leoclad’s imported fixing range, we chose premium 1,000-hour RUSPERT coating as standard. It cost us more, but we wanted that specification to be part of the products our customers order every day.
We gave the same attention to the sealing washers and the fasteners themselves. Our aim was a core range we could be proud to put our name to, with clear information to help customers choose and use it.
Deciding What Comes as Standard
Working directly with manufacturers gives us a say in the materials, dimensions, coatings and washer assemblies of our imported fixings. Each specification starts with the job the fixing needs to do.
We decide on the product we want to supply, then work through what is needed to deliver it. The buying decision follows that specification.
For the carbon steel roofing and cladding fixings in our Specialist Imported Range, that means RUSPERT with a 1,000-hour neutral salt spray requirement. It is included across our stitching, single skin and composite panel fixings.
The hours describe a controlled laboratory test requirement. They cannot be translated into years of service on a roof, and the material and coating must still suit the building’s exposure. Our Roofing Fixing Coatings Explained article explains what those figures mean.
Giving the Smaller Details Proper Attention
The washer was another part of the specification we wanted to get right, including our choice of a thicker EPDM sealing element.
That rubber element forms the seal around the fixing when the assembly is correctly installed. Its thickness works alongside the rubber’s hardness and the washer’s shape and size to determine how the assembly compresses and seals.
The fastener itself deserves the same care. Material grade, finished dimensions, point geometry and thread arrangement all need to suit the application. These details become particularly relevant when the screw has to drill, engage and seat correctly on site.
A product photograph reveals very little of that. Agreeing a clear specification with the manufacturer gives those details the attention they need before the fixing reaches the customer.
Putting the Same Care into the Information
That thinking also sits behind the Leoclad Resource Centre.
We have spent time making the product information clear and straightforward to use. A customer should be able to open a data sheet and find the application, dimensions, drilling capacity and relevant performance information in one place.
For example, our composite panel data sheets show the panel range alongside the overall fixing length. That helps answer the question behind the order: which fixing suits this particular build-up?
The accompanying guides explain installation, sealing washers and the meaning of different performance figures. Customers can check the product details and follow the relevant guidance when they need more explanation.
Presentation matters here too. Legible tables, consistent headings and concise wording make information easier to use. We want a distributor preparing a quotation and a contractor checking an installation detail to find what they need without having to search through pages of unrelated material.
What We Want the Leoclad Name to Mean
These are examples of how we work at Leoclad.
We want customers to know what they are buying and why we have chosen to supply it. That means being willing to invest in the specification and taking the time to explain a detail when someone asks.
We are proud to put our name to these fixings. The care that goes into choosing them should be apparent when a customer opens the box, reads the data sheet or speaks to our team.
